Veg Momos
Veg Momos are a popular steamed dumpling dish originating from Tibet and Nepal, widely enjoyed across South Asia. These are stuffed with a savory mixture of finely chopped vegetables, often served with a spicy dipping sauce.
Here’s a basic recipe for Veg Momos:
Ingredients:For the Dough:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- Water (as needed)
- 1 cup finely chopped cabbage
- 1/2 cup grated carrots
- 1/4 cup finely chopped onions
- 2-3 garlic cloves (minced)
- 1 tsp grated ginger
- 1/4 tsp black pepper powder
- Salt to taste
- 1-2 tbsp oil
- 2 medium tomatoes (boiled and peeled)
- 3-4 dried red chilies (soaked in warm water)
- 2-3 garlic cloves
- Salt to taste
Instructions:
Dough Preparation:
1. Combine flour and salt(optional) in a bowl.
2. Gradually add water and knead into a soft dough. Cover and set aside for 20-30 minutes.
Vegetables preparation:
1. In a bowl Add chopped cabbage, carrots, onion, and salt ,mix and keep aside for 10-15 minutes
2. After 10- 15 minutes, Drain the water and squeeze out excess water
3. Add drained vegetables to a bowl, add chopped ginger and garlic, black pepper, mix well.
2. Place a spoonful of filling in the center of each circle.
3. Fold and pleat the edges to seal the momos.
Steaming:
1. Arrange the momos in a steamer lined with parchment paper or oiled to prevent sticking.
2. Steam for 10-12 minutes or until the dough turns translucent and non-sticky.

1. Blend boiled tomatoes, soaked chilies, garlic, and salt into a smooth paste.
