Andhra Style Pappula Podi
Pappula Podi is a flavorful Andhra style powder made with roasted chana dal (Bengal gram) and spices. It’s commonly used as a side dish for idlis, dosas, or rice.
Here’s a quick recipe to make it at home:
Ingredients:- Roasted chana dal (Bengal gram): 1 cup
- Grated coconut:1/2 cup
- Red chili powder (or Dry red chilies): 1tsp (adjust to taste)
- Garlic cloves: 3–4
- Cumin powder : 1tsp
- Coriander powder : 1tsp
- Salt: to taste
- Oil
- A pinch of hing (asafoetida) (optional)
1. Blend:
- In a blender add grated coconut, roasted chana dal (Bengal gram), coriander powder, red chili powder, cumin powder, methi seeds, garlic, salt, and hing to a blender. Grind into a slightly coarse powder.
- Transfer to an airtight container. It can be stored for 2–3 weeks.
