Carrot and radish bhaji (sabji) Simple recipe
Carrot and radish sabji is a simple and healthy Indian dish that combines the sweetness of carrots with the sharpness of radishes and a blend of spices.
Basic recipe for making this delicious carrot and radish sabji:
Ingredients:- 2 large carrots, peeled and cut into thin strips or small pieces
- 2 large radishes, peeled and cut into thin strips or small pieces.
- 1 large onion (optional)
- 2-3 green chilies, chopped
- 1 tsp mustard seeds
- 1 tsp cumin seeds
- 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
- 1 tsp red chili powder
- 1 tsp coriander powder
- 1/2 tsp garam masala
- 2 tbsp oil
- Salt to taste
- Fresh coriander leaves, chopped (for garnish)
- Lemon juice (optional)
Instructions:
1. Prepare the vegetables: Peel and cut the carrots and radishes into thin strips or small pieces.
2. Temper the spices: Heat oil in a pan. Add mustard seeds and let them splutter. Add cumin seeds and allow them to sizzle.
3. Cook the aromatics: Add chopped onions and green chilies. SautƩ until the onions become golden brown.
4. Add the vegetables: Add the carrots and radishes to the pan. Stir well to combine.
5. Spice it up: Add turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander powder, and salt. Mix well to coat the vegetables with the spices.
6. Cook until tender: Cover the pan and let the vegetables cook on medium heat for about 10-15 minutes, or until they are tender. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking.
7. Finish and garnish: Once the vegetables are cooked, sprinkle garam masala (if using) and mix well. Adjust the seasoning if needed. Garnish with fresh coriander leaves.
