Roti (Indian flatbread) recipe:
Ingredients:
- 2 cups whole wheat flour
- Water (as needed)
- Salt (optional)
Instructions:
1. In a mixing bowl, add the whole wheat flour. You can add a pinch of salt if you prefer.
2. Slowly add water while kneading the flour until it forms a smooth and soft dough. The amount of water needed may vary depending on the flour, so add it gradually.
3. Once the dough is formed, cover it and let it rest for about 15-20 minutes.
4. After resting, divide the dough into small portions and roll each portion into a ball.
5. Take one dough ball, dust it with flour, and roll it out into a thin circle using a rolling pin.
6. Heat a griddle or tawa on medium-high heat.
7. Place the rolled-out roti onto the hot griddle and cook for about 1-2 minutes on one side until bubbles start to form.
8. Flip the roti and cook for another 1-2 minutes on the other side until it puffs up and gets golden brown spots.
11. Serve the rotis hot with your favorite curry or vegetables.
